CONNECTING THE COMMUNITY AND THE LIBRARY

Since 1995, the Friends of the Chevy Chase Library (FOCCL) has provided critical support to the Chevy Chase Community Library to enhance programs, improve equipment, support staff, and engage the community with our library. We are an all-volunteer, community-based non-profit registered with both the State of Maryland and with IRS.

In 2024 we surveyed the community to find out what kinds of programs you want at the library and when you can attend. We are now working to meet those needs.
Although we no longer host the used book sale at Chevy Chase Library, we have an arrangement with a used book dealer to help you sell your book collection and donate the proceeds to the FOCCL. If you are moving or downsizing, please contact us to find out more about this valuable service.

A great library doesn’t have to be big or beautiful. It doesn’t have to have the best facilities or the most efficient staff or the most users. A great library provides. It is enmeshed in the life of a community in a way that makes it indispensable. A great library is one nobody notices because it is always there, and always has what people need.”
